Losing Focus During Application Season?
Updated: Aug 27
You’re Not Alone.

September is here, deadlines are closing in, and the to-do list is not getting any shorter. If it feels harder than usual to focus on essays and applications right now, you are not alone. Here are three simple shifts that can help.
Work in small pockets of time
You do not need three free hours to make progress. Fifteen focused minutes on an essay adds up faster than waiting for a “perfect” block of time that rarely comes.
Silence the notifications
A quick glance at a text can pull focus for much longer than a few seconds. Put the phone away, even just for one work session.
Set one goal, not a vague plan
“Finish the personal statement draft” beats “work on college stuff.” A specific target makes it easier to know when the session is done, and easier to stay on track while working.
Small, consistent steps will take students further than any last-minute push. We are here to help every step of the way.
